Using directory submissions for link building and promotion have been around for quite a long time and it still one of the techniques that are still used. Although this link building technique isn’t as effective as it used to be with Google devaluing many directories in the past has made it hard for directory owners earn, despite this fact doing directory submissions is still worth it. In this article ill discuss a few tips on how to improve your chances of getting your submission approved.

When doing directory submissions it’s a good idea to get a list of variations that you want to use for your title, and description. The more variations you have the better, when making a title it is important not to use short titles like “Dog Food”. Try to come up with a descriptive but short title as these are more likely to be approved. When using title’s for your submission’s its best not to use title’s that do not relate to your homepage since most likely you will be submitting your homepage and not inner pages.

For your description that you want to use ensure that the description is at least 2 sentences long but 3 sentences is the optimal length you want to use. In your description try to use 3rd person when describing the website as if someone else was submitting your website. Do not mention the URL within the description as many times if the editor see’s a.com within the description it is more likely to be rejected. Also when writing your descriptions simply describe your website, do not make it sound like a sales pitch this is one mistake that I see often and will most likely get rejected.

Another part of directory submissions are confirming the submission via your email, I’ve found that about 30-35% of directories will send out an confirmation but only a small amount of those actually require you to confirm by clicking a link in the email. When submitting it also will help a small amount by using an email address that is the same domain as the URL you are submitting, there are not a large amount of directories that use this guideline but by doing this you can improve your approval.

By keeping these things in mind you will have more success using directory submissions and also improve the amount of listings you will get. Keep in mind to use variations of your information to have a better effect on your SEO. Lastly keep in mind that your title’s are the biggest factor in your SEO efforts so ensure you have researched your keywords that you want to use for directory submissions.

If you have some basic online marketing skills like keyword research, SEO, article marketing or link building, do you know that you can actually sell your services to traditional brick and mortar businesses? You don’t need to be an Internet guru. As long as you can show those traditional business owners how they can improve their business bottom line through the Internet, I’m sure they will listen to you.

However, you do need to learn and educate yourself on not only the technical skills but also some business skills. That’s where the SEM Business Blueprint comes in. This is not the typical money-making products that we’ve seen so many crowding the Net these days.

SEM Business Blueprint is focusing on teaching people how to make money by selling online marketing services to local businesses. By the way, SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. In a layman term, it simply means marketing your business through the search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

You see… most Internet Marketers glue themselves in front of their computers and fail to recognize the BIG opportunities available in the real world. Only a few smart ones recognize the opportunities and able to earn some good money with very little competition. Most traditional business owners realize the power of Internet but they just don’t have the time or knowledge to look further…. this is where you can come in and help them.

In a nutshell, SEM Business Blueprint provides a very comprehensive package for those who want to learn how to sell their IM skills to local businesses. It teaches you step by step how to get clients and how to offer your services. The authors (Steve Clayton & Tim Godfrey) even give you the complete promotional materials, sample proposal and powerpoint presentations they used for their clients. In short, you get a complete blueprint.

The thing I like best about this course is that it’s organized in a stage by stage fashion. The course is made out of a series of video tutorials, they are very easy to follow and understand.

For example, the stage 1 of SEM Business Blueprint will show you exactly why this is such an easy way to make thousands of dollars whilst you are working on other areas of your internet business, whether it be affiliate marketing, product creation, blogging or some other type of online venture.

In stage 2, you’ll learn how to quickly set up your marketing services blueprint, how to show your offers to prospective clients and get paid up front fee of as much as $2500 BEFORE you actually do any work.

Stage 3 will walk you through step by step how to set up your customers campaigns once you have received a purchase order and all the info pertaining to their business.

Stage 4 and 5 will show you where and how to find high paying customers. The authors will also show you the inner workings of this type of online business by taking you behind the scenes and showing you real life examples from their own accounts.

Conclusion:

SEM Business Blueprint is very different from many internet marketing or money-making courses that I have seen today. Many existing IM courses simply use rehashed materials and teach you with different words. This course, however, is totally new. It’s more geared toward teaching you how to become a professional internet marketing consultant. The course is well suited for those who are looking to supplement their income. The market demand for this kind of service is huge and competition is low.

Everyone wants to rank highly in the search engine results pages. By using just these three methods you could help boost your website rankings and increase your sales.

1) Keyword research and optimization

It is of extreme importance to pick the right keywords that you want to rank highly in the search engines. Keyword research can be time consuming but it’s worth every ounce of work you put into it. If you put in the right keyword research before you try to get rankings for one of your websites then most of your work is already done. Most people only go for one or two word keyword phrases which are extremely competitive. Try to use three to four word (called longtail) keyword phrases instead. You’ll find that they are much more targeted and less competitive. The goal being to amass high rankings for many longtail keywords related to what you’re trying to sell.

Next you can optimize pages and content in your website by placing your keyword phrases in the meta tags (website title, description, keywords), and by creating pages that contain the keyword phrase in the URL.

2) Blog

Create a blog on your website and update the content regularly. Search engines love websites that are always adding content. They keep coming back to find out what kind of new information you’re putting out there. Be sure to use your keyword phrases in the titles and text of your blog posts and articles.

3) Social bookmark

Social bookmarking is an awesome weapon for boosting your website ranking. Sign up for some of the bigger social bookmarking sites, and bookmark each one of your blog posts and website pages. Since these websites have a high page rank in Google, by bookmarking your website it’s like telling Google that your website is really important. Other people at the social bookmarking sites will be able to see your bookmarks and bookmark your website themselves. Each time building a link back to your website. Link building is a massive strategy for getting a boost to your website rankings.

Hi, I am a Search Engine Marketer (SEM). I’ve been busy online for a very long time now – 4 years. These days, there are so many eBooks out there that promise you millions in your pocket tomorrow, but 99.99% of them will tell you something that you already know, or, will tell you something that does not work anymore, because its out-dated.

What’s even better, there are now sites out there that tell you “Hey, all these guys are scams. Don’t buy from them – buy from me.” Or something along the lines of “I was scammed 1 million times.” Does that sound familiar?

The reason why you see those “scam warning” or “review offer” ads is so that you can come to their site and buy the product that you are researching from them, or, they’ll try to persuade you and sell you something different. And guess where they learned this amazing technique??? You darn right — DayJobKiller!

Let me tell you something. DayJobKiller Rocks! I thought I knew it all before I bought my copy of the DayJobKiller. Man, I was soo wrong. My eyes were opened to so many other things that I’ve been missing.

Learning something takes alot of research. Saving that time is priceless. If someone already did the reasearch and now is willing to share it with you for a low price – that’s a bargain.

The questions is – does DayJobKiller has the research information that’s truly worth its price?

The answer is yes. It does. 69 pages of great information packed with some amazing tactics that deliver RESULTS.

If you are new to SEM – you will be up to speed in one hour and will be able to start working on your future success.

If you are an astute affiliate (super affiliate), you will still learn about some great technics that deliver results in 2007, and will be able to take them and perhaps come up with some ideas for 2008.

In anyway, I personally recommend DJK and hope that you will make the right decision and get it.

How often do we come across websites that have the same title and descriptions on each and every page? The answer is….hardly. Although this mistake is seen all of the time by those of us who work on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for a living, those who are searching using search engines will unlikely find your site unless you are spending tons of money on your adword campaign. If you have 5 pages in your website, and each has the same title and description, you are loosing out in 80% of market visibility. Not only is variety important to attract as many potential customers as possible, adding variety to your web page is very easy and it can make your website rise in ranks. The following are 5 tips to help you add variety to your website through effective title and description implementation.

1. First things first, Google and other search engines hate repeat information. Repeat information tells search engines that your site may be a spam site since your descriptions may not coincide with the information provided in each page. You will effectively drop in ranks quickly if you do not solve this issue immediately. Remember that dropping in ranks is a lot easier than rising in them. This not only applies to your head tags such as your title and descriptions, but also affects your content as well. Look through your site and find which pages look like mirrors of each other, which pages can be deleted, and which can have more variety added to make them unique.

2. If you are working with a template, be effective in how you add your head tags. Be sure your title and descriptions are enclosed inside of an editable region, otherwise, your title and description will not only repeat throughout your site, but you will have a tough time editing them in the future without making a change in your template code, then still having to go back through each page and making the required changes.

3. Your choice of Titles and descriptions should be complimented with keyword research which you can easily do using Google’s free keyword tool. Make sure you incorporate your keywords inside of your title and description and yes….your content too. Be sure to practice good judgment when selecting keywords to make sure you don’t pick overly-competitive keywords. Although they may work well with your adword campaign, very competitive keywords should be avoided for organic results. Otherwise, ranking on the first few pages of a search engine result will be close to impossible.

4. Target a different search terms for each page. People don’t always land on your home page. This means you should consider each page in your website as a landing page and provide content accordingly. You want to give them a short overall idea of what your company is about, providing a link to your home page in case they want to read more about it, but focus the bulk of your content to the search at hand. You want to your visitor’s search relevant. If they are searching for “liposuction medical procedures,” they want to read about “liposuction medical procedures.” Adding content that they can find in other places of your site may confuse them and they may loose interest.

5. Don’t repeat your company name on your titles unless your company name utilizes searchable key terms. Your titles are amongst the most important tool used by search engines to find your site, so do not fill them with needless information. Rather choose brief statements that have your keywords incorporated, and that have an enticing marketing message that will make a reader want to click on your site. Unless you are a big, and highly recognized company, chances are that most searchers will not be searching for your company name.

What is RSS?

RSS is “Really Simple Syndication” or “Rich Site Summary”, it is a method of distributing links to content in your web site that you would like others to use. In other words RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works for example blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video in a standardized format.

Generally RSS feed is applied to those webpages whose content gets updated frequently, so that whenever there is a change in your website those who have subscribed to your RSS feed will get to know.

How to manually create RSS feed:

Start with creating a new XML file, now add new item in this file by following this architecture

  • Title
  • Description
  • Link

So testing keywords, content and links in mobile websites, local content and social media is a wise move to generate leads in the internet marketing industry.

For example in your website you have an articles webpage which is constantly updated, then you can put rss feed for that page by constructing rss-feed.xml file.

Now in this file suppose you have 10 articles listed, in that the first article is on

Enhancing traffic to your website through Linkbaiting

Which is stored at the location

website-address/ linkbaiting.htm

and whose description is

Linkbating is a new concept, but is becoming an effective way to drive more traffic to your website. In simple words linkbaiting is nothing but encouraging others to link back to you…

In your XML file the first item could be added like this

< item >

< link >website-address / linkbaiting.htm < / link >

< description > Linkbaiting is a new concept, but is becoming an effective way to drive more traffic to your website. In simple words linkbaiting is nothing but encouraging others to link back to you… < /description >

< /item >

Similarly the other items of that webpage (other 9 articles with short description and link) could be added as other items. For example if the second article is on search engine optimization, then it could be added as

< item >

< title > Search engine optimization < /title >

< link > website-address / search-engine-optimization.htm < / link >

< description> SEO is the process of analyzing a web site and modifying it to enable search engines to read, understand, and index it correctly. This dramatically increases the traffic to the web site… < /description>

< /item>

Similarly the other 8 items could be created. Since RSS is a dialect of XML. All RSS files must conform to the XML 1.0 specification, as published on the W3C website.

We need to insert this code

<? xml version=” 1.0 “? >

In any RSS document at the top level, there should be a element, with a mandatory attribute named version which specifies the version of RSS that the document conforms to. Here we are using the version attribute 2.0.

< rss version="2.0" >

Subordinate to the element is a single

element, that contains information about the channel (metadata) and its contents.

<? xml version=”1.0″? >

< rss version="2.0" >

< channel >

< item>

< title >Enhancing traffic to your website through Linkbaiting< /title >

< link > website-address/ linkbaiting.htm< /link >

< description>Linkbating is a new concept, but is becoming an effective way to drive more traffic to your website. In simple words linkbaiting is nothing but encouraging others to link back to you… < /description>

< /item >

< item >

< title > Search engine optimization < /title >

< link > website-address /search-engine-optimization.htm < /link >

< description > SEO is the process of analyzing a web site and modifying it to enable search engines to read, understand, and index it correctly. This dramatically increases the traffic to the web site… < /description >

< /item >

< /channel >

< /rss >

Notice that we have closed the channel and RSS tags in the end.

As indicated before since its an XML file it has to be saved as rss-feed.xml.

After defining all the items i.e. all 10 articles in this case we have to define our webpage as a channel.

The same tags title, description and link of your webpage has to be inserted. Now the complete file will be like this

<? xml version=”1.0″? >

< rss version="2.0" >

< channel >

< title >SEO Article, SEO Blog, SEM Tips, PPC Article, Blog, Internet Marketing< /title >

< title >Enhancing traffic to your website through Linkbaiting< /title >

< link >website-address/ linkbaiting.htm < / link >

< description >Linkbating is a new concept, but is becoming an effective way to drive more traffic to your website. In simple words linkbaiting is nothing but encouraging others to link back to you… < /description >

< description > SEO is the process of analyzing a web site and modifying it to enable search engines to read, understand, and index it correctly. This dramatically increases the traffic to the web site… < /description >

< /item >

< /channel >

< /rss >

After doing this make hyperlink (rss-feed) articles page and link that hyperlink to the XML file (rss-feed.xml).

Validating The File

Once you are done with this process, it is the time to check whether your file is valid or not. Either you can use feed validator service or just type the URL of this particular feed in the address box, if everything is fine you will get to see the XML file otherwise you have to fix the errors.

Now its time to get Syndicated

Since your file is validated you can now submit your feed to various rss directories to get your feed listed. Which will help you to get more leverage of your articles in this case.

Summary:

RSS Feed is one of the best ways to market the information on a website without putting much effort. So it could also be used as one of the internet marketing strategy. Once the feeds on your website are updated, every subscriber automatically gets the update of new information on the site.

Also with RSS you can also circulate your content to your networks of social networking websites. Its works amazingly, as RSS helps you generate traffic to your website, which in turn helps you getting good backlinks, which helps in getting good ranking in Search engines, which is the major aspect of SEO.

RSS feed is just a link created on any webpage whose content gets updated frequently, so that whosoever subscribed to your RSS feed will get notified whenever there is a change in that particular webpage. So obviously by providing RSS feed in your webpage you are increasing your webpage’s visibility among others and in turn traffic of your website which is the key aspect of any SEO program.

This is my understanding about RSS, feel free to share your opinions about this post.

NOTE:

Please write the complete website address in the link tag including http and www instead of website-address

and xml tag < is < and > is > sign

Wikipedia defines Search Engine Marketing as a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).

I could go into the technicalities of SEM, algorithms, robots, etc. However, if you’re reading this article, you probably aren’t interested in me stuffing a bunch of technical terms down your throat. You would rather learn about search engine marketing and how it can bring you more business.

I chose this topic today based on a couple of conversations I recently had with new clients.

One of our clients had embarked on a small ad campaign with Yahoo before coming to us. He mentioned that when he was spending the money on Yahoo, the traffic to his site was much higher. When I asked how many sales he garnered from the advertising, he replied that he didn’t know. Website traffic and conversions to sales are two completely different things, with the latter obviously being more important. It’s crucial to keep track of your ROI (Return on Investment), if you are going to invest in online advertising. Make sure that you have the tools within your company-whether it’s your own database for tracking sales, or another form of tracking system-before you spend your first marketing dollar.

Another conversation I had with a client involved a Google Adwords campaign. He was bidding using every keyword under the sun. He had a huge CTR (Click Through Rate), but again, nobody was buying. At the end of the day, his budget was gone and he didn’t have anything to show for it besides lots of traffic and an empty bank account. Until I explained to him that he was paying for people to come to his site and quickly leave, he didn’t “get it”. Having the right keywords in your campaign and your ad copy, that are relevant to your product or service, will get you qualified click through to your site. You don’t want people to click on your ad, only to find that your site doesn’t offer the information they were looking for, and leave immediately. That will cost you wasted dollars each and every time they do that.

My advice to our clients is to, first and foremost, invest time on SEO. As long as you are engaging in honest practices, and not trying to fool the “Big 3″, the benefits will far outweigh the time you spend. If you can afford to hire a reputable firm, all the better! Please be aware that there are self-professed “SEO Experts”, who claim they can get you to the top of the SERPs, guaranteed. Any company representative who spews this line at you is most likely just out to take your money. Check them out thoroughly. Conduct an online search on their company, and don’t just stop at the first few pages of the results-dig deep to discover if they are reputable or not. Check with the Better Business Bureau or other consumer watchdog organization. Reputable firms won’t guarantee top placement, but they will give you realistic projections of how they can help you improve your placement results.

Until you really have all the pieces in place, it’s best not to engage in a pay per click campaign. Remember that it takes testing, monitoring and tweaking, as well as a significant amount of your time, before you will see any benefits.

I’ll start with my own experience:

A few years ago, the company I worked for ventured into a rather large PPC (Pay Per Click) campaign. We hired an expert, had all the tracking tools in place and launched a campaign to knock out our competition and drive traffic to our site; paying close attention to our sales funnel and expecting to convert our “browsers” into “buyers”. In addition to our PPC campaigns, we also hired a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) firm to help us with the natural results. Natural results are the result of traffic coming to your site outside of paid links directing it in. It should be noted that we had all the puzzle pieces in place and spent time on the following:

1. Analyzing the results from the analytics

2. A/B testing of different landing pages

3. Closely monitoring the PPC campaigns

4. Adjusting our ad copy and landing pages based on our conversion rate

We hired top firms for both the “paid” and “natural” campaigns, as well as an expert to oversee both of the campaigns. Without getting into the numbers here, (and believe me they were big), the end result was as follows:

1. We spent a large amount of money getting traffic to our website via the pay campaigns. The increased traffic did result in increased sales, however – the results made each sale a VERY expensive one, and not really worth the money that was spent on the marketing campaign. In short, our ROI (Return On Investment) was in bad shape.

2. We spent 80% less on the SEO campaign, which took longer, but garnered results that are still driving traffic to the website to this day.

In the end, we spent a ton of money getting traffic to our website which did not result in sales, and we learned several valuable lessons. In addition, we did suspect throughout our campaigns several instances of fraudulent PPC activity. Unethical companies will engage in this practice by hiring offshore companies at ridiculously low rates to click on their competitors’ ads. These companies use various IP addresses to avoid detection. The idea is to exhaust a competitor’s budget before legitimate click through and potential sales can occur. When we reported suspected PPC fraud, some clicks were refunded via ad credits (Yahoo!) and some could not be proven and were not refunded (Google). The best advice I have for companies on a small budget is to work on your natural search results via search engine optimization, and use various other forms of advertising, such as placing a print ad, and perhaps a nice banner ad (where you pay per month, not per click) on a relevant site. Later, when your marketing budget has grown, you can branch out into other forms of media, such as local radio or television.

In the warm climate of the Middle East, the heena plant, which has the scientific name Lawsonia inernis, grows beautifully. Over the centuries, inhabitants of the countries in the Middle East have learned how to crush the henna leaves, and to thus produce a powder. If that powder is mixed with mehndi oil, it can be applied to the skin.

Why would someone want to put a mixture of oil and powder on the skin? Well, that powder happens to contain chemicals called tannins. Those tannins give the powder from the crushed leaves the ability to stain objects touched by the powder. When mixed with mehndi oil, the powder can stain skin. The skin becomes one of various shades of brown.

The Egyptians used to rub henna and mehndi oil on the fingers of deceased Pharaohs, before beginning the process of mummification. Later, various cultures encouraged the creation of henna/mehdhi tattoos. Each culture had its own unique type of henna/mehndi tattoo.

Arabs chose to put large flowery designs on their hands and feet. Indians preferred to make fine lines in each henna/mehndi tattoo. They painted their hands, forearms, feet and shins with lacy henna/mehndi designs.

As the inhabitants of the Middle East began to trade with Europeans, the stain created by henna powder became familiar to some Europeans. Then as other Europeans traveled to all four corners of the globe, those traveling Europeans, some of whom had become familiar with the henna/mehndi designs, met Polynesians who wore a darker and more permanent skin design-a tattoo. That meeting paved the way for creation of the henna/mehndi tattoo.

Although the Polynesian-style tattoo last much longer than the henna/mehndi tattoo, not every person wants to have a permanent design on his or her skin. Many people like to have the ability to remove a tattoo, much like a woman can remove make-up. Those people are eager to purchase the henna/mehndi tattoo kits, kits available at various sites on the Internet.

Such kits include stencils, design books, transfer tattoos, bindis and faux body jewelry. They allow a person to put a blue or black tattoo on any part of his or her body. Such a tattoo remains on the skin for one to four weeks.

The makers of the henna/mehndi tattoo have sought to capitalize on the familiarity of hair dyes with henna. In the United States, the FDA has recognized the safety of such hair dyes. The FDA has not, however, given a nod of approval to the selling of henna/mehndi tattoos.

The original skin stains made by the henna/mehndi mixture were either brown, orange brown or reddish brown. Such stains contained only the chemicals in the henna plant, plus the chemicals in mehndi oil. The blue and black tattoos created from the henna/mehndi kits have additional chemicals.

One of those chemicals is coal tar. The scientific name for coal tar is p-phenylenediamine (PPD). The FDA has found that many people are allergic to PPD. That finding has forced the FDA to seek restrictions on the importation of henna/mehndi, skin staining products.

Buying a new home is exciting, but it can also be a little scary. When you are at the store buying a new pair of pants or a shirt you check it out to make sure there are no rips, tears, or stains. You also go to the dressing room to make sure it fits and looks good on you. Well you need to do the same thing when buying a home. You need to look at the home thoroughly to see what condition it is in; however unlike clothing you can’t see everything.

Tip 1 – Make sure you get a home inspection done before purchasing a new home by a licensed professional who knows what to look for. They will check out the roof, foundation, plumbing, electrical, and the heating systems. There could be some hidden problems that will be quite costly, so it is best to know this ahead of time.

Tip 2 – Make sure the home is worth what you are paying for it? If you comparison shop for food or clothing then you know what I am talking about. There could be the same house 2 streets over in better shape at a lower price. So do some looking around. Also be sure to get an appraisal, so you will know exactly what the home is really worth.

If you are getting a mortgage, they will do an appraisal prior to giving you a loan.

Tip 3 – Check out the neighborhood. If you have a family you may not want to live in a place where there are a lot of young people who have loud parties. So if you drive the neighborhood on a weekday and a weekend evening you get a feel for what kind of neighbors you will have.

Tip 4 – Check on garbage pick up. In many cities you have to call a service to set up trash removal services and some of them you will have to pay in advance.

Tip 5 – Schools, it is good to know where the schools are located and if there is bus service.

Tip 6 – If you call the local utility company you can get a general idea of what your monthly costs will be. This is especially important if you are on a budget, you can also sign up for their monthly budget system so your bill will be the same every month.

Tip7 – Does your home purchase come with a warranty? Many sellers will take out a warranty prior to selling their home. This works like insurance, so if something does break; you won’t have to pay the whole bill.

Tip 8 – Homeowners insurance, this is a must have, so shop around to get the best deal and coverage. If your new neighborhood has any special problems such as flooding, make sure you are covered.

Tip 9 – Get a security system. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a crime free city. Bad stuff can happen anywhere and protecting your family’s safety is very important.

Tip 10 – When you know what day you want to move, set up your truck rental or moving company as early as possible. So everything will go smoothly.
